The above picture shows the 048-0074 COLEMAN POWERMATE piston and cylinder removed and
the following information is with the 048-0074 piston and cylinder removed.

Proper installation of the COLEMAN POWERMATE 048-0074 piston into the cylinder
is so the ring is not bent over.
Install the piston 048-0074
through the top of the cylinder (Top of the cylinder is the end with the lip),
pulling the piston 048-0074 (by holding onto the piston rod),
down through the cylinder and not bending the ring.
Another method is to push evenly on the top of the
piston 048-0074, forcing the piston 048-0074 down into the cylinder.

A good inspection of the 048-0074 piston ring while installed
inside of the cylinder can determine ring sealing.
Using a flashlihgt or other lighting, if you can see daylight around the ring in any area
of the ring, you need to replace the piston and cylinder kit 048-0074.

While you may be able to remove the piston ring,
the piston ring is not replaceable and not available
for purchase alone. If your piston ring is damaged you must
buy a new piston and cylinder kit 048-0074.

You may see a number 048-0088 molded into the piston rod,
this number is not the part number for this part, use 048-0074.
