SCRAPER BLADE AND SKID SHOES ADJUSTMENT-

Snow thrower skid shoes are designed to protect the Auger housing on your snow thrower. To maximize the life of your Snow thrower auger housing you must occasionally check the gap between the scraper blade to ensure it is set at a proper height in relation to the ground surface such as concrete or gravel.

To set the proper gap you simply need a measuring ruler, shim material you can get from the local hardware store and the proper tools for loosening the mounting hardware on the Snow thrower skid shoes.

Use the shim to check and set, adjusting the skid shoe gap for concrete surface to 1/8 inch and for gravel surfaces to 7/8 inch.

With the shim material set under the scraper blade, check the gap between the scraper blade the the ground surface. If an adjustment to the Snow Thrower scraper gap is necessary, simply loosen the skid shoe mounting hardware and with the gap set, adjust the skid shoes so they are now touching the ground surface and tighten the hardware on the skid shoes.

You can recheck the desired gap at any time. Making a tool for doing adjusting the snow skid shoes is easy. Simply find a 1/8 wood piece to use as a measuring device. If you need a 7/8 tool, then stack up the 1/8 inch wood stock to acquire the necessary 7/8 stack as necessary.
